What We Did

After several pre-start meetings and site visits with our nominated lift and shift and civils contractor we agreed a start date with our client which saw the start of the decommissioning of the old oil cooled transformer. INDSS manipulated the HV system to allow the second oil cooled transformer on site to take the load of the site whilst our work was being undertaken.

 INDSS instructed our nominated civils contractor to create temporary oil bunds around both oil cooled transformers whilst we undertook the removal of the existing brick bund. Our work involved hand digging to locate the existing HV cable which ran under landscaped ground soil from the HV substation to the transformer room. Once this cable was carefully exposed, we were able to safely disconnect the existing cable from both the HV substation and the transformer, we were then able to install new cable to accommodate and suit the needs of the new air cooled transformer.

INDSS instructed our nominated lift and shift contractor to complete the contract lift for us which included crane lifting the old transformer out onto a flatbed truck and then crane lifting the new transformer into the transformer room whilst undertaking careful manoeuvring. Upon final place positioning INDSS commenced with the connection of the HV and LV cables into the new air-cooled transformer. Once the transformer was successfully commissioned into service our nominated civils contractor returned to site to remove the temporary bund and build a new brick bund around the remaining oil cooled transformer.

This project was completed over a 2-week period and was successfully handed back to the client within the agreed timescales.
